Angela Conway

“I am fascinated by vibrant and lucid colours and I like to investigate different colour spectrums, their relationships and textures. I like to use impasto, impressionism and flat dry effects. I have been influenced by Claude Monet and this is prevalent in my paintings of the Waterlillies, I wanted to capture the delicate changes of light and colour. I am also influenced by Van Gogh, and this is evident in Flowers in Vase, La Maison, and Country Cottage. I have also been influenced by Rothko in his applications of flat colours. I like to express all of the influences and I am inspired by travel and nature and this is why I had the inspiration to paint The Lighthouse in Kent, Lido in Venice and the semi abstract landscapes, skyscapes and seascapes inspired from my travels and my imagination. I apply minimal and vibrant colours to create and express different moods. I like to use mono colours, warm and cool colour schemes and textures. “I studied drawing, painting and Collage at St. Martin’s School of Art in 2000. I studied with the Open University where I did a foundation course in Humanities and French in 2002/3 which inspired me to investigate artists and to paint.”
