The Old Bell, Hemel Hempstead

The Bell, Hemel Hempstead
One of many pubs in the High Street and named after the Old Bell that used to peel
from the bell tower of the Market House.
In 1726 The Old Bell was extended towards the High Street to give it the frontage that we see today. Opposite the Old Town Hall and the beautiful Norman church of St. Mary's I have often wondered what the drinkers behind the balcony would have witnessed over the centuries.
