Open Studios 2004

CRA Framing workshopIsland of Art Ltd is delighted to have participated in Open Studios 2004 as an Open Studio Group and as an exhibition.
Open Studios 2004 provided an opportunity for visitors to meet the artists demonstrating their skills.
Island of Art's participation in the Open Studios 2004 is an integral part of the company's strategy to help artists to promote their works of art. We'd like to think that this participation is evidence of the value of becoming an Island of Art artist and would therefore would like to encourage artists who are not yet a member of the Island of Art community to register with us.

The Island of Art Group and exhibition attracted well over 150 visitors.

Dates

The event, the fourteenth, organised by Hertfordshire Visual Arts Forum (HVAF) ran between 18th September and 3rd October 2004.
The venue was CRA's framing workshop at 222, London Road, St Albans.

Artists

Island of Art artists who signed up for the Open Studios were Marcus Carter and Sandie Thoroughgood.

Marcus Carter Marcus' building painting

Marcus works mainly in watercolour, gouache and acrylics on a variety of media and accepts commissions on any subject matter, varying in size from miniature to murals.

This is what Marcus thought about Open Studio 2004: "...plenty of interest and a lot of awareness about me and IOA is generated. A lot of people took interest and you just don't know what may come up... "

Sandie Thoroughgood Sandie's Coded Emotion painting
Sandie is a versatile artist and is fascinated with the make up of people. In the past she has worked on the human sensitivities using cosmology, creation and memories. Now she is embarking on the responses to moods, feelings and emotions.
" I am trying to appeal to an audience who seek colour co-ordination in their décor. My works of art are decorative, and come in a variety of styles. They can also be seen as very deep or as a puzzle.
